KNOW YOUR CONSTITUTION PROJECT- NIGERIA
Know Your Constitution Initiative is a project of the Constitutional Rights Awareness and Liberty Initiative (CRALI). It has contributed immensely to expanding the frontiers of liberty, human rights, democracy and happiness of ordinary citizens in Nigeria.
Know Your Constitution project is designed to ask people from all walks of life on the awareness of their rights as contained in the Constitution of Nigeria, as well as other laws currently in force in Nigeria and empowers people via radio, social network, mobile applications, streets campaign, conferences and seminars.

ON RADIO- UNILAG 103.1 FM
The radio programme is being received loud and very clear by millions of radio listeners in Lagos, Nigeria. It is presented to Lagosians in simple language which is understandable to the ordinary man on the street. The programme on UNILAG 103.1 FM on Wednesdays, 12:10-1pm takes the form of a broadcast in which reputable lawyers are invited to the studio to educate people on the positions of law to solve legal issues that arise in the listeners daily activities.
Seasoned legal practitioners that have featured on this programme to date include: Justice Muhammad Lawal Uwais, Former Chief Justice of Nigeria; Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, then president of the Nigerian Bar Association; Professor Akin Oyebode, a leading expert in International law; Professor Oyelowo Oyewo, former Dean of the Faculty of Law University of Lagos; Mr. Bamidele Aturu, Human Rights Activist; Mr. Akintayo Akinola, Mr. Malachi Ugwumandu, human rights experts, among others. Listeners call in live through dedicated lines to share legal issues that arise in their daily life activities and get response from our reputable law experts who come as guest weekly.

STREETS CAMPAIGHN
Know your Constitution Initiative crew has taken this initiative to the streets of Lagos to educate and thereby empower Lagosians with knowledge of law. The streets exercise is being carried out towards reducing the high incidence of ignorance of the beneficiaries regarding their basic rights.

CONFERENCES & SEMINARS
Know Your Constitution Initiative organizes Conferences and seminars to empower people on awareness of their rights. Considering the fact that a lot of people are ignorant of the law, especially knowledge of the constitution in Nigeria, they have their rights infringed upon on daily basis, and many go to jail because pleading of ignorance of law is not a defense in the law court. 
 
MOBILE PHONES APPLICATION
This is an application designed by a young Nigerian where all phone users across Nigeria can easily have access to Know Your Constitution Initiative and Nigerian Constitution via mobile where they can ask questions on legal issues that arise on their daily activities and can get answers to their questions on their mobile phones without having to make phone calls. www.kycinitiative.org/mobile
PRO BONO SERVICE
Know Your Constitution Initiative works with a number of legal practitioners to take up matters on serious abuse of women and children’s rights free of charge.
 
ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Because of certain beliefs in some parts of Africa that one cannot take his brother to court and still remain best of brothers, Know Your Constitution Initiative has introduced Alternative Dispute Resolution in solving disputes among people in Nigeria. It includes; mediation, conciliation e.t.c

RECOGNITIONS/AWARDS

• Nigeria’s most Informative Newspaper; Saturday Tribune printed and published by the African   Newspaper of Nigeria PLC named CRALI Founder and president Adeola Austin Oyinlade its Youth   Achiever on May 30, 2009; for his contribution to expanding frontiers  Human rights, Democracy and happiness of ordinary citizens of Nigeria. It was published on   page 39 of 30 May, 2009 edition of the Oldest Newspaper in Nigeria.

•  On 7th August, 2010, CITIZEN Reporters named the Founder and president of CRALI, Adeola   Austin Oyinlade Sunshine Youth Ambassador for his Initiative, KNOW YOUR CONSTITUTION where   the online magazine reported that '....he has worked extensively as a radio presenter using his talent to advocate for people's rights and a preservation of their liberty'.

 

• ‘Know Your Constitution’ Initiative won LEAP AFRICA (Leadership, Effectiveness,   Accountability and Professionalism) Awards 2010 presented at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan Lagos on Thursday 11th November, 2010. 

• The United States department of State Commendation and publication on Know Your Constitution Initiative Founder for using law and technology to help Nigerians to know their rights. May 2011 among others.
